Azbil Berca Indonesia has committed to implementing the mangrove plantation event on the 28^th of February 2024 at Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) in West Jakarta, we also involving and collaborating with the Taman Wisata Alam (TWA) as an NGO in this event.

We chose and implemented the mangrove restoration activity because mangrove plantations often referred to as the "rainforests of the sea," are critical ecosystems found along tropical and subtropical coastlines. These unique habitats provide a wide array of environmental, ecological, economic, and social benefits, making them vital components.

Environmental Rehabilitation

The mangrove plantation rehabilitates degraded coastal areas by replanting mangrove species native to the region. Mangroves are crucial in stabilizing shorelines, mitigating erosion, and protecting against storm surges and tidal waves. By restoring these ecosystems, the initiative contributes to the overall health and resilience of coastal environments.

Climate Change:

Mangroves are highly effective carbon sinks, sequestering significant amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it in their biomass and sediments. By expanding mangrove coverage through plantation efforts, PIK area contributes to climate change by reducing the carbon dioxide efforts by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing carbon storage capacities along the coast.

Partnerships and Collaboration

The success of the PIK 2 mangrove plantation relies on collaboration among government agencies, non-governmental organization (NGOs), private sector partners, and local communities.
