With our unique activity to thrive in coastal waters, we play an essential role in mitigating climate change and supporting local economies.
Objectives of the Event
The primary objectives of the mangrove planting event included:
   1. Climate Change Mitigation: Mangroves function as significant carbon sinks, absorbing substantial amounts of CO2. This event aimed to contribute to global efforts to combat climate change through increased mangrove coverage.
  2. Community Engagement: Involving local communities in the planting process encourages stewardship of the environment and highlights the importance of sustainable practices.
  3. Education and Awareness: The event served as a platform for educating participants about the ecological benefits of mangroves, their role in protecting coastlines from erosion, and their contribution to local fisheries.

Even though those three objectives are included in the mangrove planting activity, we focus on climate change

The day commenced with an opening ceremony featuring speeches and a message from Mr. Kiyoshi Kurata and Mr. Isak Sinatrawan as a form of management commitment and support to this event.
The event begins by visiting the previous Mangrove plantation that was already planted by the previous group. We saw the mangrove plantation growing around 60cm - 75cm.

Following this, participants were guided to designated planting sites, where they engaged in direct activities, planting saplings while learning about the importance of each species and their specific roles in the habitat.

Impact and Future Prospects
The success of the 2nd Mangrove Planting Event is measured not only in the number of saplings planted but also in the heightened awareness and community engagement it fostered. By enhancing support for mangrove restoration, the event contributes significantly to achieving the SDGs. The continuous efforts of corporations and local organizations in monitoring and maintaining these mangrove ecosystems will be crucial for long-term success.
Future events are planned to sustain momentum, focusing on monitoring the growth of planted mangroves and expanding educational outreach. Partnerships with schools and local businesses will nurture a comprehensive approach to mangrove conservation and ensure ongoing community involvement.
